Named after ?? Brownlow is a satellite town to the main town of
Kingscote. Originally consisting of shacks and holiday homes it
is situated on the lower shores of the Western Bay near the mouth
and flats of the Cygnet River. It has some nice swimming
beaches on the seaside. The year round population is approximately
200 and because the housing prices are cheaper than the
main town it is beginning to become a popular place to settle.
Grapes grow on the hills leading into Brownlow and it is also
the base for the freight services.
The 18 hole Kingscote golf course is located nearby. This golf
course has not got 'greens' it has 'scrapes'.
