Campfires are allowed at designated locations only within
the camp areas
When using
a campfire, ensure that any fire bans and by-laws are observed.
Keep the
fire small, using wood in moderation.
Firewood
must be purchased from National Parks and Wildlife Service,
not collected in, or brought into the Parks.
Never leave
a fire unattended and ensure that the fire is extinguished
when finished.
Important To Note!
Fire Danger Season!
(1 December to 30 April)
Special
conditions apply to the lighting of fires during this time
period. Gas fires only are permitted in all National Parks.
In other areas, the following conditions
apply:
Only cooking fires or for heating for comfort
are allowed.
Clear all flammable material above and
around the area to a distance of 4 metres (12 feet).
The fire must be contained within the provided
fireplace or in a trench at least 30cm (1 foot) deep.
A person with adequate means to extinguish the fire must
be present.
Days of Total Fire Ban
Fires are
not allowed when a Total
Fire Ban is declared.
Fire Bans
will be broadcast on radio and television at and after
6pm the day before the Ban and apply for the 24 hours of
the following day.
Severe Penalties apply,
if fires are lit on Total Fire Ban days.
